Prompt: Harry/Draco, too late

"It really didn't have to come this," Harry said, choking back sobs. If he started crying, he knew, the tears would never stop. "Why didn't you ask for help?"

Draco scoffed, blue eyes as cold as Artic tundra. "I did, Potter, on the train that second time we met." He didn't look away, meeting Harry's gaze without shame or hesitation. Harry turned his head.

The Aurors pulled Draco down the hall for the verdict, but Harry already knew what it'd be.

Prompt: author's choice(/author's choice), Dean's leather jacket

After everything is finished, all that's left of Dean is a black Chevy Impala, a golden amulet, and a leather jacket.

Sam puts the charm around his neck, shrugs the coat on, and slides into the driver's seat. He's done this before—twice, in fact. That still doesn't make it any easier.

o0o

Castiel shows up a couple times. He doesn't wear Jimmy Novak anymore; he doesn't have to. Sam can see his true form and hear his true voice.

Lucifer still whispers to him, sometimes. And so does Michael. Sam tells them to go fuck each other till kingdom come because that's not today.

o0o

There wasn't enough left to burn or bury. Michael hollowed Dean out, in a blaze of glory that lit up the Heavens and sealed the gates of Hell. The demons are locked away and the angels have gone home, but there are still ghosts and goblins and all the rest.

Pretty soon, Castiel leaves him alone. Everyone does.

o0o

Sam honestly hadn’t thought he could die. He survived the battle between Michael and Lucifer, he survived God’s arrival, the selfish fucker—after that, what could kill him? What would dare?

It’s a simple poltergeist. He’s gotten sloppy.

He’s wearing Dean’s leather jacket and Dean’s amulet is warm against his skin and Dean’s impala is parked out front, and he doesn’t fight Death, not anymore.

Prompt: Sam kept Dean's leather jacket after Dean went to Hell but he never wore it

It lays on the backseat, accusing him of being a horrible brother.

You could have saved him, it says. If you'd tried harder. Why couldn't you have been better? He turns music he doesn't actually like up loud, then louder. What did he ever ask? it says, and he hears it clearly through the song. He traded his soul for you and you let him go to Hell. What kind of selfish brat are you?

“Shut up,” he mutters, glaring into the rearview. “I didn’t ask him to do that. I wish he hadn’t!”

Well, he did, it hisses. He did and now he’s gone. Because of you.

Dean’s amulet burns against his skin. Dean’s car roars around him. But he can’t touch Dean’s goddamn leather jacket.

Prompt: Dean, walking in his father's shoes

Dean knew every time he met one of his father's old contacts—couldn't really be called buddies, because Dad had none of those since Mom died—that they looked at him and found him wanting. Not as fast, not as strong, not as good—too damned pretty to actually be a hunter.

It was easier when Dad was with him, but usually Dad sent him alone, and they would look at him and leer and mutter like he was deaf, like he was stupid.

But Dad knew he was good enough. Dad might not have said it, but he wouldn't send Dean alone if he didn't think Dean could do it. Dean knew he'd never fill Dad's shoes, but he'd make a name for himself, in his own right. And all those blind old fools would see then.

(They did.)

Prompt: Wyatt/Chris, the road to evil

Whenever Chris looks at his hands, he still sees Mom's blood. He can't go to the Manor anymore. Magic School is a crater. Witches are in hiding, demons strutting in daylight, and Wyatt sits on his throne.

No one else, Wyatt had said, will feel our pain.

He's wrong, though. Chris has tried telling him, but Wyatt won't listen. Everyone is feeling their pain. And Chris really really wishes he could care. Mom would, he knows. And the aunts. And Paul, Patty, Penelope, Petey, and Mel. They would hate what Wyatt has done in their names. But they're not here anymore, so they don't get a say.

He and Wyatt are all that's left. And even if Wyatt has taken everything they were ever taught and twisted it, Chris will stand beside his brother.

What's a little more blood on his hands, anyway?

You have such a great handle on the inner voices of both boys.

I love how Dean feels at his best with his dad just because he knows he measures up in John's eyes and that is all that has ever mattered to Dean.

The Sam SPN bits were achingly sad; the Dean was sad in such a different way.

You know how to say a lot with a few carefully chosen words, which is not easy.
